The client required an independent report on the potential value chain for converting NG to chemicals, as an alternative to LNG production, to be utilised as a marketing tool for discussions with potential customers. JCD provided the key technical content of this report, providing an assessment of a number of processes related to chemicals production from NG: ammonia, methanol, urea and formaldehyde. The assessment covered a review of current technologies for each chemical, with a process description, typical flow sheet and operating performance. The processing of NG to LNG was also reviewed.
